Overview
For this project, we had to create an informative poster on a social issue of our choice. As a group of four girls we decided to look at the issue of the gender pay gap. Our aim was to effectively put across data in a visual manner using graphs and charts. The staggering percentage gaps between the pay of men and women is something we wanted to highlight, so we did this through emphasising these typographically. Another key factor in communicating the message was the hero image I created at the bottom, which includes a bar chart illustrating women struggling to get to the level that men are at.
Using the graph tools on Adobe InDesign as a basis for the infographics, we adapted them to match the theme of our poster by editing the colours and typefaces, and adding our own illustrations and annotations.
I was able to enhance my project management skills during the 6 weeks we had to bring this piece together as each member created a visual for the poster. My job as project manager was to ensure they kept to the same visual style so the poster would come together coherently. As a group we were very collaborative when it came to the layout of the poster but this came with challenges where I had to mediate meetings and keep everyone on the same page.
